October 2013 – March 2014
Jerk Junkie, 63 Broad Lane, Tottenham N15
The Living Archive was a pop up project space inhabiting a former Caribbean takeaway shop on Broad Lane. The space was set up to celebrate and map the local area and identify the social, historical, cultural and physical characteristics of Tottenham through community engagement projects and visual documentation. The Living Archive was an open ended project for further research to generate ideas for future artist-led site specific and collaborative projects.
Make-Room worked with a range of individuals, groups and organisations to collect material and invited contributions from residents and business owners. In November Artist Sadia Ur-Rehman was invited to host a special Tottenham inspired tea party at the Living Archive to talk about Tottenham, share memories and take part in Tottenham themed parlour games.Workshops and projects were also developed with The CASS, London Metropolitan University and students from The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London.
